Birtamod Municipality Issues 15-Day Ultimatum for Unauthorized Structures on Roadside

Jhapa. Birtamod Municipality has once again issued a reminder with a final deadline of 15 days to remove unauthorized structures built by encroaching on the road's jurisdiction.

The municipality, issuing a public notice for the second time on Monday, has requested that physical structures falling within the road area from Mahananda Chowk to Mukti Chowk via Deuniya, located at the border of Birtamod and Arjundhara municipalities, be removed by the owners themselves within 15 days.

A jurisdiction of 15-15 meters on both sides (total 30 meters) from the center of the road has been designated, for which measurement and demarcation work has already been completed in coordination with the Department of Roads. Earlier, the municipality had issued a 35-day notice for the first time on Jestha 27. However, as some homeowners and businesspersons have not removed their structures even after the expiry of the stipulated period, a second notice has had to be issued, as stated in the notice signed by Municipal Administrative Officer Sagar Mishra.

The municipality has warned that if the structures are not voluntarily removed within the additional 15-day period, the municipality itself will demolish them in accordance with the prevailing laws. The municipality has also stated that all expenses incurred in demolishing such structures will be recovered from the concerned house or land owner.
