Flood Forecasting Division Reports Major Rivers Below Alert Level, Warns of Flash Floods in 12 Districts

Kathmandu. The Flood Forecasting Division has informed that the flow of major rivers in the country is below the alert level according to the measurement on Monday morning.

The bulletin issued by the division states, 'The flow of Koshi, Narayani, Bagmati, Karnali, Mahakali and their tributaries is normal.' The division has also informed that the flow in the Kankai, Kamala, Babai, East Rapti and West Rapti rivers is under control.

Although the major rivers are safe, a warning has been issued that the flow of small rivers may increase significantly in 12 districts of the country. Today, there is a moderate risk of flash floods in small rivers flowing through Jhapa, Udayapur, Makwanpur, Gorkha, Lamjung, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Kalikot, Doti, Dadeldhura, Baitadi and surrounding districts.

Presenting the possibility for the next two days, the division said, 'On Shrawan 6 and 7, the flow in some small rivers flowing through Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim Province may increase suddenly.' The division has requested the residents of the riverine areas to take necessary precautions.
