CPN-UML to Institutionalize Knowledge and Suggestions of Experts for Parliamentary Activities

Kathmandu. The opposition party CPN (UML) has put forward a policy to institutionalize the knowledge and suggestions of experts to make parliamentary activities more organized, logical, and effective. Deputy Leader of the CPN (UML) Parliamentary Party, Aryal, provided information about the action plan related to this at a program organized at the party's central office in Chyasal. 

Deputy Leader Aryal emphasized the need to make the party's presentation in parliament not only political but also academic, intellectual, and fact-based. She expressed confidence that the party will receive the right direction from the 'fusion' of leadership seasoned with political experience and personalities with expertise in various fields.

The party has started the process of providing forms to identify the areas of interest and expertise of the experts and preparing a 'roster' of experts based on that. According to Aryal, experts will be divided into different 'clusters' based on their specialization.

She also informed that an 'Issue Collection Center' will be established to make the statements made by the MPs in parliament more impactful and fact-based. The center will collect facts by minutely studying public-level problems, social issues, and national and international developments, which will help the MPs debate effectively in the house. 

Deputy Leader Aryal said, 'The main objective of today's discussion is how to effectively connect the analysis, suggestions, and expertise of our colleagues with the party's work. We want to focus on how to make our voices more fact-based, logical, and influential in conveying the problems and voices of the people to the government, effectively raising social issues, forming the party's clear perspective on national and international events, and providing necessary oversight to the government. It is necessary to utilize the knowledge, study, and research of expert colleagues for party building and the effective role of parliament.' 

She further said, 'We expect cooperation from the colleagues present here to make parliamentary arguments, debates, and policy-making more academic, intellectual, and fact-based. Today, we have made an effort to connect leadership seasoned with political experience and intellectual colleagues who have gained expertise through study and research. We believe that the party will receive the necessary guidance from the combination of these two forces. A roster will be prepared by identifying the areas of interest and expertise of the expert colleagues. Then, groups will be formed according to subjects, and arrangements will be made for regular discussions and collection of suggestions. A separate mechanism will also be created to collect fact-based issues and public concern issues.'

Deputy Leader Aryal stated that UML's role should be prominent in conveying the voice of the people to the government and in bringing the government's wrong steps to the right path by holding them accountable. She mentioned that the suggestions of experts are indispensable for establishing the party's perspective at the national and international level.
