Nepal Electricity Authority Conducts Electricity Leakage Control Campaign in Banke

Nepalgunj. Nepal Electricity Authority Nepalgunj Distribution Center has conducted an electricity leakage control campaign in Banke. During the field inspection of the campaign, 19 abandoned meters were found, informed Sanjay Kumar Mishra, chief of Nepal Electricity Authority, Nepalgunj Distribution Center. According to him, 14 abandoned meters were found in the rural areas of Khajura Rural Municipality and five in Nepalgunj Sub-metropolis.

Chief Mishra said that the process has been started to bring the electricity consumption equivalent to approximately three lakh units from the abandoned meters into the revenue bracket and establish a record. He said, "Some customers have come to the office and paid the amount, some are in the process of paying."

Informing that electricity was consumed without connecting meters in houses and fields in various places, Chief Mishra said that the electricity leakage control program has been effective in reducing electricity leakage and increasing revenue collection. He said that a team led by Dinesh Oli, in-charge of Khajura Sub-distribution Center, is going to villages and conducting field inspections, meter testing, monitoring electricity usage, and service improvement works.

Oli informed that demand leakage has been controlled for 743 customers whose meters have a sanctioned capacity of only five amperes but are illegally using MCBs of 16 amperes, 15 amperes, and up to 32 amperes. The distribution center has stated that the process of recovering the necessary amount from these customers according to the prevailing rules of the authority is underway.

Along with the leakage control campaign, priority has been given to resolving customers' complaints and electricity supply-related problems on-site by reaching the field to provide customers with more secure, reliable, and quality electricity service.

In-charge Oli said that the problems of voiceless and inaccessible customers have been identified and resolved immediately in many places. He said that works such as installing new transformers, expanding poles and wires, increasing capacity, and expanding new lines are being carried out rapidly in places where needed.
