Nepali Congress Faction Proposes Five-Point Plan for Party Unity

Kathmandu. The former president Sher Bahadur Deuba faction (pro-regular general convention) has put forward a five-point concrete proposal to resolve the internal conflict and unite the Nepali Congress. The faction presented the 5-point proposal at a press conference at its contact office in Chunidevi on Sunday.

Former publicity department chief Min Bishwakarma stated in a letter received through party Vice-President Bishwaprakash Sharma that the Deuba side had sent the following five-point understanding proposal on Jestha 18th after discussing the proposals received.

Former Vice-President Bimalendra Nidhi, former General Secretaries Dr. Shashank Koirala, Krishna Prasad Sitoula and other leaders, Bishwakarma, holding a press conference, stated that the first demand is to complete the central working committee led by Gagan Thapa by adjusting the office bearers and members elected from the 14th General Convention with the working committee of the special general convention. Similarly, the second proposal is to form a working executive committee in such a way that the majority of the chairman Gagan Kumar Thapa, selected from the special general convention, remains. As a third proposal, the announcement of the schedule for the 15th General Convention will be brought out from the first meeting of the reconstituted central working committee.

Bishwakarma said that the current establishment side will have a majority in the formation of various committees related to the general convention, and since the active membership is the main basis of the general convention, all active members finalized by the committee coordinated by former General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa before the dispute arose in the past will be automatically allowed to participate in the general convention and their 'digital entry' will be ensured. He said that the digital entry should not be linked to the issue of whether or not they can participate in the general convention in the name of renewal.

He accused his side of showing utmost flexibility for party unity, but the establishment created obstacles to unity by bringing out things different from the previous agreements.

These are the five-point proposals -

(A) To complete the central working committee led by Gagan Thapa by merging the office bearers and members of the 14th General Convention working committee with the working committee of the special general convention.

(B) To form a working executive committee in such a way that the majority of Chairman Gagan Kumar Thapa remains.

(C) The reconstituted central working committee meeting will announce the schedule of the 15th General Convention.

(D) To form various committees related to the general convention in such a way that the current establishment side has a majority.

(E) Since the active membership of the party is the most important basis for the general convention, all active members finalized by the committee coordinated by the current President Gagan Kumar Thapa (former General Secretary) before the dispute arose within the party will be automatically allowed to participate in the 15th General Convention and their digital entry will be done. Digital entry should not be linked to the issue of participation in the general convention by calling it renewal.
