MP Ganga Shrestha Questions PM Balen Shah's Statement on Border Disputes

Kathmandu. CPN UML has said that the statement made by Prime Minister Balendra (Balen) Shah on Jestha 17 is objectionable and has questioned what land India would demand if it asked for Nepal's encroached land. Speaking in the House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday, MP Ganga Shrestha said this, asking if Nepal had abandoned its claim to Kalapani, Lipulek, and Limpiyadhura.

She questioned the government about how the citizens living there would manage when the border's boundary pillars erode and shift inwards, making them Nepali at night and Indian in the morning. She asked the government what the army was for if it did not go to protect the country's borders, stating that Nepal's land and nationality would not be lost.

She said that the government was indulging in drama by lining up vehicles, and that Rastriya Swatantra Party had not fulfilled its promises and commitments made before the election after becoming the government, while the citizens were worried.
