CPN (UML) Chief Whip Ain Bahadur Mahar Draws Parliament's Attention to Death Threats

Kathmandu. CPN (UML) Chief Whip Ain Bahadur Mahar has drawn the attention of the parliament, stating that he has been receiving continuous death threats.

Speaking in a special time during the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, Mahar informed that he has been receiving threats of being shot through social media and phone.

Addressing the house, Chief Whip Mahar said that he has been targeted for criticizing the government based on its merits and demerits as a representative of the people. Mahar also made public the details of the person threatening him in the house. According to him, he has been threatened with being shot from a Facebook ID named Parajuliram.

Speaking in the house, he said, 'We have come to this house with the mandate of the people.' He stated that he has been continuously receiving threats of being shot and killed on Facebook and phone for trying to show the government the right path.

He also informed that he has received threats of physical attack from another person named Purnabikram Kshetri. Stating that receiving such public death threats is a serious matter, he drew the attention of the house and the concerned bodies to this.

He expressed his grievance that although they are not unconditionally opposing the government, they have to face such threats when speaking on public interest issues.
