Local Bodies to Provide Financial Aid for Jeep Accident Victims

Dhangadhi. Following the jeep accident in Sungare, Kedarsyun Rural Municipality-7, Bajhang, all local levels in the district will provide financial assistance of at least Rs 250,000 each for the treatment of victims' families and the injured.

Various decisions related to relief, treatment, and disaster management were made at an all-party meeting of the District Disaster Management Committee held on Sunday.

Furthermore, political parties, the Chamber of Commerce, non-governmental organizations, the Federation of Nepali Journalists, and government employees in the district have also been requested to provide voluntary financial assistance. It has been decided that Durgathali Rural Municipality will coordinate the collected assistance.

The meeting also decided to request the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law of the Sudurpashchim Province to provide further necessary assistance for the treatment of the injured.

According to the committee, sending two seriously injured individuals to Kathmandu and five to Nepalgunj via helicopter for further treatment incurred a significant financial burden. Therefore, it has been decided to raise assistance from various bodies for the management of treatment expenses. Three people also died on the spot in the accident.

Similarly, with the monsoon becoming active, due to continuous rainfall, floods, river erosion, and landslides, roads have become more risky, and a decision has been made to instruct all local levels in the district to immediately improve, maintain, and make necessary preparations for risky roads and turns within their areas.
