Four journalists to be honored by Sanchar Sahakari Sanstha

Biratnagar. On the occasion of its 15th anniversary, Sanchar Cooperative Institution Limited in Biratnagar will honor four journalists this year. 

The names of the journalists to be honored were finalized at a meeting of the cooperative's board of directors held on Thursday. 

The cooperative has decided to present the Torendra-Indira Press Freedom Award with a cash prize of Rs 51,000 to Shiv Bahadur Karki, former president of the Nepal Journalists Association Morang and editor of Darshan Daily. 

Similarly, the Om Prakash Goyal Economic Journalism Award with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 has been decided to be presented to Arjun Acharya, Biratnagar correspondent of Ratopati Online, informed the institution's chairman Deepak Dahal.

Likewise, the Member Chandralal-Durga Devi Dahal Communication Worker Award with a cash prize of Rs 21,000 has been decided to be presented to Padam Sardar, correspondent of Makalu Television, and the Minadevi Shrestha Women Journalist Promotion Award with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 to Rasmita Udash, journalist of Nepal Times Online Television.

These announced awards will be presented at a special ceremony to be held on Saturday afternoon at the hall of the Nepal Journalists Association Morang in Biratnagar, the cooperative said. 

Rajendra Dahal, Pramod Pradhan, Mohan Bhandari and Subash Dhakal have already been honored with the Torendra-Indira Press Freedom Award. Similarly, Bhim Chapagain, Gajendra Budhathoki, Anantraj Neupane, Min Kumar Shrestha, Mohan Manandhar, Navraj Kattel, Sushila Pathak and Bandhu Pokharel have been honored with the Om Prakash Goyal Economic Journalism Award.

Previously, Rohit Kumar Luitel, Mohan Manandhar, Uddhav Ghimire, Abhay Kumar Rai, Devanarayan Sah, Mohammed Sadarul, Tara Acharya, Baburam Bhandari, Santosh Sigdel, Naveenchandra Karna and Anil Shrestha have been honored with the Communication Worker Award, and Sushila Pathak, Indira Bhattarai, Binu Timsina, Jyoti Chauhan, Uma Thapa, Rajkumari Tamang, Alina Diyali, Usha Sardar, Ranjita Pokharel, Jhuna Bhattarai and Ruma Dahal Nisha have been honored with the Women Journalist Promotion Award.
