Body of Missing Woman Confirmed Found in Karnali River

‎‎Surkhet. The body found in the Dangdage area of western Surkhet in the Karnali River has been confirmed to be of Sirjana Khadka, who went missing in the Sangetada accident.

‎‎According to the Chief of District Police Office Dailekh, Police Deputy Superintendent Shrawan Kumar BK, on Thursday, Sirjana's father Dhan Bahadur Khadka identified and confirmed the body.

‎‎The body of 18-year-old Sirjana, a resident of Raskot Municipality-2, Kalikot, was seen by locals on Tuesday in the Dangdage area, which falls in Chaukune Rural Municipality-4 of western Surkhet, far below the accident site.

‎‎As it is a very remote area, a team from Bijoura Police Post brought it on Wednesday. Police Deputy Superintendent BK stated that the body, kept at the Provincial Hospital, was identified by her father on Thursday and taken away.

‎‎Last Thursday morning at 11:30 AM, a Force vehicle with registration number Ka.Pra. 02–001 Kha 1055, traveling from Surkhet to Kalikot, met with an accident in the Sangetada area of Karnali Highway in Chamunda Bindrasaini Municipality-7, Dailekh.

‎‎The vehicle fell about 400 meters below the highway into the Karnali River. The vehicle then submerged in the river. Among those on board, 54-year-old Jekhe Tiruwa, a resident of Pachaljharana Rural Municipality-9, Kalikot, was found stuck on a cliff.

‎Doctors at Dullu Hospital declared him dead.

‎‎Similarly, the body of Mage Tiruwa from Pachaljharana Rural Municipality-9, Kalikot, who went missing in the river along with the vehicle, was found on Monday in the Sungarkhola area of Kailali. The condition of two more people remains unknown.

‎The condition of Tularam Subedi from Panchapuri Municipality-8, western Surkhet, and co-driver Ram Prasad Subedi is unknown. The driver and co-driver are two brothers.

‎‎Dozens of security personnel from all three security agencies have been deployed to search for the vehicle and the missing persons.
