Infrastructure Ministry Cancels Licenses of 44 Construction Firms for Non-Renewal

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Infrastructure Development has canceled the licenses of 44 construction business firms and companies that did not renew their licenses within the stipulated deadline. The Construction Business Promotion Branch under the Ministry has brought these companies under the purview of action in accordance with the provisions of the Construction Business Act.

The Construction Business Act, 2055, has a mandatory provision in Section 4, Sub-section 3, requiring construction entrepreneurs to renew their licenses for each financial year. Accordingly, the deadline for renewal for the financial year 2082-83 was set to be completed by Chaitra end, 2082 BS.

However, the Ministry has stated that the licenses of companies that did not complete the renewal process within the said period have been 'automatically canceled' as per Section 7, Sub-section 3 of the Act.

The list published by the Ministry includes companies from 'A' class to 'C' class.
