India Suffers Record T20 Defeat to England

Trent Bridge. India has scored the second-lowest score in its T-20 international cricket history. While chasing a huge target of 202 runs set by England at Trent Bridge, the Indian team was all out for just 76 runs in 11.4 overs.

This is India's biggest defeat to date in terms of runs. By defeating India by a huge margin of 125 runs, England has taken a 2-0 lead in the 5-match T-20 series.

Earlier, India's biggest defeat in terms of runs was when New Zealand defeated India by 80 runs in Wellington in 2019, a record that has now been broken. India's lowest T-20 score in history is 74 runs, which it scored against Australia in Melbourne in 2008.

Although India's start was fast while chasing the target, the entire batting lineup was then destroyed. Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 13 runs off 5 balls, while Ishan Kishan also got out after scoring 13 runs. Key batsmen like captain Shreyas Iyer, Abhishek Sharma, Axar Patel, Tilak Verma, and Shivam Dube could not play big innings.

India lost its 5 wickets within the powerplay for the first time in T-20 international history. To dismiss India cheaply, England's Josh Tongue bowled a lethal spell taking 4 wickets, while Jofra Archer took 3 wickets. Similarly, Adil Rashid took 2 and Will Jacks took 1 wicket.

Earlier, India had won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, England scored a strong total of 201 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

For England, Phil Salt played an excellent innings of 70 runs off 44 balls. Similarly, Sam Curran remained unbeaten on 41 runs off 24 balls, while Jos Buttler contributed 36 runs off 21 balls. From India's side in bowling, Prince Yadav and Harshit Rana took 2-2 wickets each, while Axar Patel took 1 success.
