Susta Residents Continue Protest in Maitighar

Kathmandu. The peaceful protest that began in Kathmandu's Maitighar Mandala on Asar 16, by the residents of the Susta area of Nawalparasi, demanding land ownership certificates, Nepali citizenship, and border security, continued on Thursday.

Susta residents have started a protest in Kathmandu to draw the government's attention to their demands, complaining of various types of harassment, pressure, and obstruction by Indian security forces.

Participants in the demonstration have demanded that the government ensure the security, identity, and rights of Nepali citizens residing in the border areas. They stated that they have been deprived of citizenship for years and of ownership of the land they have been cultivating.

Protesters have demanded that the government take concrete diplomatic initiatives to stop Indian encroachment, make border security more effective, immediately provide Nepali citizenship to Susta residents, and distribute land ownership certificates for the land they are cultivating.

They have also warned that they will continue their peaceful movement until their demands are met.
