Former Director General Narayana Prasad Dhakal Attends Ministry Amidst Investigation

Kathmandu. Narayana Prasad Dhakal, former Director General of the Department of Drug Management, who is under investigation for drug price hikes, has been attending the Ministry of Health and Population. According to the Ministry of Health, Dhakal has been regularly attending the ministry.

Ministry of Health Joint Spokesperson Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari stated that Dhakal has not been suspended and is only under investigation, hence he continues to attend.

Although the Ministry of Health formed an investigation committee for further study, the committee has stated that they have not yet received the letter. The Ministry of Health and the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers appear to be delaying further decisions on this matter.

The Ministry of Health had formed an investigation committee led by Additional Secretary Dr. Shree Krishna Shrestha to investigate Dhakal. However, committee members have stated that they have not received the letter. Committee member Dr. Shrestha said, 'We did not receive the letter. After that, we don't know what is happening.'

The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers had issued a work order on Chaitra 16, stating that a complaint was received regarding this matter and formed a committee led by Dr. Shree Krishna Shrestha to submit a report detailing the involvement of individuals in the irregular price hikes.

A complaint was filed against Dhakal regarding the irregular price increase of medicines.
