Koshi and Bagmati Province Highways Blocked Due to Landslides and Road Repairs

Kathmandu. Main highways in Koshi and Bagmati provinces are blocked due to floods, landslides, and road repairs. 

According to the updated details as of 8 AM Monday, road sections in various districts are completely or partially closed.

In Koshi Province, the 'Mechi Highway' is completely blocked due to a landslide in Ilam. The landslide in Rajduwali, Ilam Municipality-9, which occurred on Ashadh 13, has brought the highway to a standstill. Similarly, the Mid-Hill Highway in Bokhim, Bhojpur Municipality-5, is affected by floods. This road, blocked since Baishakh 12, is currently only open one-way, and an alternative route is also available.

In Bagmati Province, vehicular movement has been halted on the BP Highway section in Kavrepalanchok, considering the potential risk of floods. Since Jestha 22, all vehicles plying via 'Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katuinjebesi' have been prohibited from using this road section.

Meanwhile, in the Mahalakshmi area of Indrasarovar Rural Municipality-2 and 4 in Makwanpur, the road section from 'Kulekhani-Phakhel-Humane-Pharping' to Kathmandu has been completely closed for road repairs. This highway, closed since Jestha 15, will remain shut for a month due to repair work.
