MP Khana Calls Speaker 'Employee Sir' in Parliament

Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) MP KP Khanal addressed Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal as 'Employee Sir' during a meeting of the House of Representatives. Speaking during the emergency time of the parliament, Khanal's address as 'Employee Sir' caused a brief murmur in the house.

Both Speaker Aryal and MP Khanal are from RSP. Although he slipped on the address, Khanal advanced his speech very aggressively. MP Khanal slipped while raising the issue of the pathetic condition of Lamkichuwa Hospital in Kailali and the mistreatment of its employees, drawing the attention of the main opposition party Nepali Congress.

"Just like a calf gets trampled in a fight between two bulls, Lamkichuwa Hospital has been held hostage by the internal squabble between the municipality and the province," Khanal said. He stated that although the cabinet decided to upgrade Lamkichuwa Hospital from 15 beds to 50 beds and make it a provincial hospital, the work has not progressed due to the dispute between the local government and the provincial government.

Towards the end of his speech, while narrating the plight of the employees, Khanal suddenly addressed the Speaker as 'Employee Sir'. He said, "The employees who want to work cannot work, it is said that it should be a provincial hospital but it is not being built. And here they talk about ideals."

According to the rules of the parliament, the Speaker should be addressed as 'Honorable Speaker Sir'.
