Iran Condemns US Airstrikes as Violation of Ceasefire Deal

Tehran. Iran has stated that the US airstrikes that took place on Saturday are a clear violation of the ceasefire understanding between the US and Iran reached on June 18. In a statement released on Sunday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry accused the US of having no respect for its commitments.

The statement said, 'This incident has once again proven that the US administration does not give any importance to its commitments and breaking promises is the nature of that administration,'

Earlier, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) had stated that the US Navy and Air Force had carried out airstrikes on 10 Iranian military targets located around the Strait of Hormuz. The US claimed that the action was in response to Iran's attack on a commercial vessel.

Following the US airstrikes, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has stated that it targeted US military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait with missiles and drones. The Iranian Foreign Ministry said in its statement, 'The Islamic Republic of Iran has reiterated its firm resolve to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity against US military aggression,'
