Weather Forecast: Varied Conditions Across Nepal with Rain and Heatwaves

Kathmandu. According to the forecast of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather across the country will be varied on Friday. While some cities have a possibility of rain, the plains and inner Terai regions will experience extreme heat and heatwaves.

Nepalgunj and Bhairahawa are expected to be the hottest today afternoon. The maximum temperature in Nepalgunj and Bhairahawa will reach 38 to 40 degrees Celsius. Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, and Birendranagar will experience heatwaves this afternoon, while Ghorahi will also be hot during the day. There is zero possibility of rain in these areas in the afternoon. However, in the nighttime, Bhairahawa and Ghorahi have a possibility of light rain with thunderstorms and lightning.

Pokhara, Kathmandu, Okhaldhunga, Dhankuta, Biratnagar, Dharan, and Taplejung have a forecast of moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning both in the afternoon and at night today. Taplejung has a 60 percent chance of rain in the afternoon, and Biratnagar has a 60 percent chance of rain at night, which is the highest probability today. The maximum temperature in Kathmandu will be between 29 to 31 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature will be between 20 to 22 degrees Celsius.

Janakpur and Simara in the Terai have a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms both in the afternoon and at night. Western hilly and mountainous regions Dadeldhura, Dipayal, Jumla, and Jomsom will experience light rain with thunderstorms in the afternoon. However, the weather in Dipayal will be partly cloudy only at night. Jirí has a 40 percent chance of light rain this afternoon, with a 30 percent chance at night.
