Rastriya Swatantra Party Election Delayed

Kathmandu. The second phase of the election process under the first national convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been postponed beyond the scheduled timetable. Voting has not been able to start due to the inability to publish the preliminary list of candidates.

According to the election schedule, the preliminary list of candidates was to be published at 1 am and voting was to start from 4 am. However, the central election commission of RSP has stated that the preliminary list has not been published even by 7 am.

Since the process of claims-objections after the publication of the preliminary list, the publication of the final candidate list, and the entry of candidate details into the electronic voting system are yet to be done, voting is expected to be further delayed.

Earlier, Rabi Lamichhane has already been elected unopposed for the post of chairman. After Birajbhakta Shrestha withdrew his candidacy for open vice-chairman, Swarnim Wagle has also been elected unopposed. Similarly, Sisir Khanal, an aspirant for the post of general secretary, has also withdrawn his candidacy.

Now, elections will be held for the posts of women vice-chairman, general secretary, two open joint general secretaries, and one women joint general secretary. Sobita Gautam and Dr. Tosima Karki are in competition for the post of women vice-chairman. Similarly, candidates for the post of general secretary include Manish Jha, Bipin Acharya, Kabindra Burlakoti, Runju Darshana, Ganesh Parajuli, Sagar Dhakal, Ganesh Karki, and Pramod Neupane.

It is said that the election process has been delayed beyond the scheduled time due to the ongoing efforts for consensus in the selection of office bearers. Representatives have become angry due to the delay in the election process beyond the scheduled time.
