Lumbini Province Assembly Meeting Postponed Again

Butwal. The Lumbini Province Assembly meeting has been postponed again. The eleventh meeting of the eighth session, scheduled to be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, has been postponed until further notice.

According to the notice issued by the Province Assembly Secretariat, the meeting has been postponed at the direction of the Honorable Speaker. Province Assembly Secretary Durlabh Kumar Pun Magar informed that the meeting has been postponed in accordance with Rule 12 (3) of the Lumbini Province Assembly Rules, 2079.

Discontent has arisen within the ruling party after the provincial government presented the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2083-84. As MPs dissatisfied with the budget have been continuously protesting, the Province Assembly meeting has been affected for the past few days.

Previously, the meeting had been postponed repeatedly due to disputes related to the budget. The meeting has been halted until further notice as efforts for consensus among the parties are ongoing.

Opposition MPs and some ruling party MPs have been protesting the budget presented by the Lumbini Province government, stating that their plans have been cut. Previously, yesterday as well, the meeting was postponed until today, with the government seeking time from the Speaker to hold talks with the MPs.
