Flood Risk Low in Eastern Nepal Rivers, Moderate in Some Areas

Kathmandu. The Flood Forecasting Division has stated that there is a low risk of sudden floods in small rivers flowing through Jhapa, Morang, Dhankuta, and surrounding districts today.  

According to the flood forecasting bulletin released by the division today, the water flow in the small rivers of these districts is likely to increase significantly, and therefore, caution is advised in the riverine areas.

According to the division, the condition of major rivers in the country was normal as of this morning's measurement. The bulletin states that the flow of Koshi, Narayani, Bagmati, Karnali, Mahakali and their tributaries, as well as the Kankai, Kamala, Eastern Rapti and Western Rapti rivers, are all below the alert level.

The division has released a three-day flood forecast, stating that the water flow in various rivers across the country will increase tomorrow and the day after. It is forecasted that the flow in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and some small rivers flowing through Madhesh Province may increase suddenly tomorrow and the day after.  

With the active monsoon season, the division has urged residents along the riverbanks to remain vigilant.
