Two Arrested for Embezzling Funds by Promising Foreign Employment

Kathmandu. Two people were arrested on Monday on charges of embezzling funds by luring victims with attractive salaries for foreign employment, promising to send them to Turkey and the United Kingdom.

Those arrested include Suresh Giri, 49, of Nijgadh Municipality-13, Bara, currently residing in Gokarneshwor Municipality-7, Kathmandu, and Bir Bahadur Shrestha, 70, of Chainpur Municipality-3, Sankhuwasabha, residing in Mahalakshmi Municipality-1, Lalitpur.

Among those arrested, Suresh took Rs 190,000 from one victim promising to send them to Turkey, and Bir Bahadur took Rs 200,000 from another victim promising to send them to the United Kingdom, and then became out of contact. Based on the complaints filed by the victims after paying the money and being defrauded, a special police team dispatched from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, arrested them. Police took Suresh under control from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-12 and Bir Bahadur from Mahalakshmi Municipality-1, Lalitpur.

The police stated that both those arrested have been sent to the Department of Foreign Employment in Tahachal, Kathmandu, for necessary investigation and legal action.
