Arniko Highway Road Construction Intensifies with Traffic Restrictions

Kathmandu. Traffic movement will be tightened to expedite the road construction and upgrading work on the Dhulikhel-Khawa section of the Arniko Highway.

The 'Development Facilitation Meeting' held under the chairmanship of Kavrepalanchok Chief District Officer Gopal Kumar Adhikari decided to stop vehicle movement from June 14 to June 28 to complete the construction work as soon as possible.

As per the decision of the meeting, trippers will be completely banned from entering the said road section from June 14 to June 28. Similarly, it has been decided to restrict entry of other passenger and cargo vehicles except trippers only from 7 PM to 5 AM. However, essential vehicles like ambulances will be allowed to operate as before.

The administration took such a decision after the chief of the Road Division Office, Bhaktapur, informed the meeting that there is a compulsory situation to close one lane of the road and operate vehicles on only one lane while carrying out the remaining work.

The meeting also decided that the chief of the Road Division Office will coordinate with the District Administration Offices of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Dolakha, and Sindhupalchok to help divert vehicles to alternative routes. The Division Road Office has also been given the responsibility to disseminate necessary information to the general public regarding this.
