Rupandehi District Distributes 27,462 Nepali Citizenships in One Year

Bhairahawa. The Rupandehi District Administration Office has distributed 27,462 Nepali citizenships during the period from 1st Shrawan 2082 to 31st Jestha 2083 BS.

According to Chief District Officer Bishwaprakash Aryal, the highest number, 25,927 people, received Nepali citizenship based on lineage during that period. Similarly, 292 people received naturalized citizenship, one thousand 176 people received marriage-based naturalized citizenship, and 67 people received Non-Resident Nepali (NRN) citizenship.

The administration office has stated that due to the open border with India and the district's rapid population growth, the demand for citizenship services in Rupandehi is higher compared to other districts.

Chief District Officer Aryal stated that efforts are being made to make the citizenship distribution process faster, easier, and more transparent, and that the administration is committed to providing timely services to service recipients. He said that citizenship is the legal identity of a citizen and the basis for services received from the state, hence the distribution process has been made lawful, systematic, and service-friendly.

According to statistics, the number of people obtaining citizenship based on lineage is very high in Rupandehi, while the number of marriage-based naturalized citizenships is also significant. The administration office has expressed its commitment to further enhance service delivery in the coming days.
