Ecuador and Curacao Draw 0-0 in FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifier

Kathmandu. The FIFA World Cup 2026 Group 'E' match between Ecuador and Curacao ended in a goalless draw. Neither team could score in the match held early Sunday morning at Kansas City Stadium, and both shared one point each.

This result was historic for Curacao, participating in the World Cup for the first time in its history. With the draw, it has achieved its first point in World Cup history.

Although Ecuador attacked continuously throughout the game, Curacao's goalkeeper Eloy Room performed excellently and became the team's hero. He equaled the record for the most saves in a single World Cup match by making 15 saves.

Ecuador created some good scoring opportunities towards the end of the match. Angelo Preciado's cross hit the crossbar in the 90th minute, and although captain Enner Valencia fell inside the penalty area in injury time, the referee did not call any foul. The video assistant referee also upheld the decision.

With this draw, the chances of both teams reaching the knockout stage have become difficult. Now, in their final match, Ecuador will compete against Germany, and Curacao will compete against Ivory Coast. Both teams will need a win in their final match to keep their hopes of advancing alive.
