Japan to Triple Single-Entry Visa Fees for Foreigners

Tokiyo. The Japanese government has decided to increase the single-entry visa fee for foreigners fivefold from three thousand yen to fifteen thousand yen (approximately 90 US dollars) from July.

The decision, which has been increased for the first time since 1978 amidst inflation and the depreciation of the yen, was announced by Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu at a press conference on Friday.

Similarly, the fee for issuing multiple-entry visas will increase from six thousand yen to 30 thirty thousand yen. "We do not expect this step to have an immediate impact on domestic tourism," Motegi said.
