Government Launches Downloadable National Identity Card Service

Kathmandu. The government has started a service where individuals can download their National Identity Card. The Department of National Identity Card and Registration started the service on a trial basis from today.

The identity card with the person's photo and online 'verification' QR code can be downloaded through the National Identity Card related website of the department https://citizenportal.donidcr.gov.np/ne.

It was mentioned in point no. 2 of the government's 100 agendas related to governance reform that 'a system will be built for individuals to download the national identity card with the person's photo and QR code from the department's system'.

The department has stated that citizens who have received their National Identity Card number can download their card by submitting their name (Nepali or English), date of birth, and date of citizenship issuance.

While any public body or organization has been providing services by looking at the proof of the National Identity Number with the printed photo from the department's system, the department has requested to provide services by verifying the details seen by scanning the QR code on the card and the details in the proof shown by the citizen from now on.
