Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel: Budget Not the Sole Factor for Education Reform

Kathmandu. Education and Sports Minister Sasmit Pokharel has stated that the reform of the education sector will not stop due to a lack of budget. Responding to questions raised on the budget for the upcoming fiscal year in the House of Representatives meeting, he said that budget alone is not enough to improve school education.

"Not all work requires budget to reform the education sector. It cannot be said that education will not be improved due to less budget allocation," he said.

He clarified that capital allocation is less because teacher training and salaries go into current expenditure. He stated that the government has given high priority to education by installing smartboards in all secondary schools.

Pokharel said that since school education is the main responsibility of the local government, the local government should also invest significantly.
