Four Lumbini Province Sub-Metropolitan Cities Intensify Budget and Policy Preparation

Butwal. Four sub-metropolitan cities in Lumbini Province have intensified preparations for their policies and programs and budget. According to Section 71 (10) of the Local Government Operation Act, 2074 and Section 21 (3) of the Intergovernmental Fiscal Management Act, 2074, each local level is required to present the estimated revenue and expenditure (budget) to the local assembly by the 10th of Ashad of the fiscal year. In accordance with that provision,

four sub-metropolitan cities in Lumbini Province have prepared their budgets and policies-programs.

Rupandehi's Butwal, Dang's Tulsipur and Ghorahi, and Banke's Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan cities have prepared to present their budgets and policies-programs. Among these, Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City has already publicized its policies and programs, while other sub-metropolitan cities are busy with final preparations.

Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City presented the policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year to the Municipal Assembly on the 29th of Jestha. Tulsa Aryal, Information Officer of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City, informed that the policy and program have been presented and the budget will be presented on the 10th of Ashad.

Dang's Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City has prepared to present its policies and programs on the 5th of Ashad and the budget on the 8th of Ashad. Mayor of the Sub-Metropolitan City, Tikaram Khadka, informed that the dates for the policies and programs and budget have been set.

Banke's Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City has stated that it is preparing to bring its policies and programs within the 2nd or 3rd of Ashad. According to Municipality Information Officer Lokendra Bahadur Shahi, the budget will be finalized after the presentation of the policies and programs.

"The date for presenting the budget has not been formally announced, but we will bring the budget within the 10th of Ashad," he said.

Dang's Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City is presenting its policies and programs to the Municipal Assembly today. According to the Sub-Metropolitan City's Spokesperson Rammani Pandey, the date for presenting the budget will be set after the policies and programs are approved.

Rapti Rural Municipality in Dang, which is the capital area of Lumbini Province, has prepared to bring its policies and programs on the 5th of Ashad. According to the Chief Administrative Officer of the Rural Municipality, Deviram Pathak, preparations are underway to present the budget on the 8th or 9th of Ashad.

Local levels are currently in the final stage of formulating the budget, policies, and programs for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84. Preparations have been intensified as per the legal provision requiring all local levels to submit their budgets to the budget assembly by the 10th of Ashad.
