Karnali Corridor Reopens One-Way After Landslides

Kalikot. The Karnali Corridor, which was obstructed due to landslides, has been opened one-way since this morning. Continuous rain on Tuesday and Wednesday had obstructed the road.

Due to continuous rain, landslides with mud occurred in various places along the Kalikot section of the Karnali Corridor, from Khulalu in Narharinath Rural Municipality-8 to Lifu on the Bajura border, obstructing the road.

The District Administration Office, Kalikot has stated that the Khulalu to Lifu section of the Surkhet-Humla road under the Karnali Corridor was obstructed by landslides and mud in various places for two days due to rainfall, and the road has been cleared and reopened.

There is still a risk of stones falling from the upper slopes of the road, and since the road is narrow and one-way in many places, travelers have been urged to take necessary precautions while traveling, said Assistant Chief District Officer and Information Officer Janak Sharma.
