Major Highways Blocked Due to Rain and Road Repairs

Kathmandu. Due to continuous rain in various parts of the country and road repair work, some major highways have been completely blocked, while traffic is being operated on a one-way basis in some places. According to statistics released by the Nepal Police at 9 this morning, roads in Bagmati and Koshi provinces have been most affected.

The Satungal-Chitlang road section in the Kathmandu Valley has been completely blocked since a landslide on Jestha 16. This road will remain closed for one month for repair work.

Similarly, in the Bagmati Province, the BP Highway's Kavrepalanchok section (Khurkot-Nepal Thok-Katunjebesi) has been closed for vehicular traffic due to the risk of potential floods. On the other hand, the Kulekhani-Phakhel-Humane-Pharping-Kathmandu road section has also been completely closed for one month due to repair work in Indrasarovar Rural Municipality.

In Koshi Province, the Mid-Hill Highway's Panchthar section (Yangwarak Rural Municipality-2, Dobhan) is completely blocked due to floods. Although the road in Bhojpur Municipality-5, Bokhim has also been damaged by floods, traffic has been resumed on a one-way basis using an alternative route.

The Sankhuwasabha section (Mankalu Rural Municipality-3, Naya Basti) road is operating only on a one-way basis due to a landslide that occurred this morning.

As roads are blocked and repair work is ongoing in various places, the police have requested to get information about the latest road conditions and take precautions before embarking on long-distance journeys.
