Secretary Krishna Hari Pushkar Detained and Released by Police

Kathmandu. Police have taken Secretary Krishna Hari Pushkar into custody and released him. A team from the Valley Crime Investigation Office had taken him into custody and interrogated him throughout the day.

'He was brought to the office around 3 PM,' said an official from the Valley Crime Investigation Office, 'He was released after about 7 hours into the custody of his wife.'

Officials say he was released into the custody of his wife and Joint Secretary Abha Shrestha. A high-ranking official from the Home Ministry said that he was taken into custody for interrogation on the orders of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers' Office. Pushkar is accused of sending a message to Prime Minister Balen Shah for personal gain by violating the 'chain of command'.

He was released from the Valley Crime Investigation Office into the custody of his wife around 10 PM on Thursday night. Pushkar was in the running to become the Chief Secretary.

The government had appointed Sumanraj Aryal as the Chief Secretary on November 24, 2024. Pushkar is currently the Secretary of the Vice President's Office.
