North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Son Hui Visits Moscow

Moscow. North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Son Hui visited Moscow on Saturday. The Russian Foreign Ministry has stated that Choi is scheduled to hold talks with her Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.

North Korean leader Choi Son Hui came on the invitation of Minister Lavrov 'for an official visit to the Russian Federation on July 18'. Relations between Pyongyang and Moscow have been strengthening since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.

The two countries signed a defense agreement when Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Pyongyang in 2024. North Korea has sent missiles, ammunition, and thousands of soldiers to help Russia in Ukraine.

According to analysts, Moscow is providing economic aid, military technology, food, and energy to a country that is diplomatically isolated. In April, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un pledged to help Russia win the war.

Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov and other high-ranking officials visited Pyongyang in April, where discussions were held on further strengthening military relations.

Belousov had stated that Moscow was ready to expand cooperation plans for the period from 2027 to 2031.
