Nationwide Mixed Weather Expected Thursday; Hills to See Thunderstorms, Tarai to Experience Heat

Kathmandu. According to the weather forecast, the weather across the country will be mixed on Thursday. There is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms in most of the hilly regions, while some major cities in the Tarai are expected to experience 'hot days' with extreme heat.

There is a possibility of rain in most places in the hilly areas this afternoon. Light rain with thunderstorms is forecast for Dadeldhura, Dipayal, Dhangadhi, Birendranagar, Nepalgunj, Jumla, Ghorahi, Jomsom, and Dharan in the afternoon.  

Similarly, Pokhara, Kathmandu, Okhaldhunga, Dhankuta, Jiri, and Taplejung will experience moderate rain with thunderstorms in the afternoon. The possibility of rain is particularly 40 percent in Dadeldhura, Dipayal, and Taplejung, while it is 20 to 30 percent in other hilly areas. The maximum temperature in Kathmandu, the federal capital, will be between 29 and 31 degrees Celsius this afternoon.

While there is a possibility of rain in the hills, some cities in the Tarai will experience extreme heat today. According to the forecast details, Bhairahawa, Simara, Biratnagar, and Janakpur will have 'hot days' this afternoon, with zero percent chance of rain.  

Especially in Bhairahawa, the highest temperature in the country will be recorded today, with the maximum temperature estimated to reach 40 to 42 degrees Celsius. Similarly, the temperature in Nepalgunj is forecast to reach 38 to 40 degrees, and in Simara, Janakpur, and Dhangadhi, it will reach 37 to 39 degrees Celsius.

The weather tonight will be clear in some cities, while rain will continue in others. In the night, the weather will be mainly clear in Dhangadhi, Birendranagar, Nepalgunj, Ghorahi, Bhairahawa, and Simara, while it will be partly cloudy in Dadeldhura, Dipayal, Kathmandu, and Okhaldhunga.  

However, there is a 30 percent chance of light rain with thunderstorms at night in Jumla, Pokhara, Dhankuta, Biratnagar, Jomsom, Dharan, Janakpur, Jiri, and Taplejung. The lowest temperature tonight will be in Jomsom at 8 to 10 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature in Bhairahawa, which will be extremely hot during the day, is forecast to be around 27 to 29 degrees Celsius at night.
