MOHOTTARI: POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN CHILD ABDUCTION CASE

MOHOTTARI. District Police Office Mahottari has arrested a fugitive defendant in a child abduction case from Rautahat. The arrested person is 23-year-old Navraj Adhikari, a resident of Ward No. 7, Gadhimai Municipality, Rautahat District, the police said.

On last Baishakh 7, at around 2 PM, three unknown individuals abducted an 8-year-old boy on a motorcycle with an unknown number plate from Mahottari district. During the incident, the child screamed, and local residents saw and tried to stop the motorcycle. When the locals tried to stop them, the abductors abandoned the child at the same spot and fled.

During the investigation, the police also recovered the motorcycle used in the incident, Na 64 Pa 7990. Adhikari, among the defendants involved in the incident, was arrested on last Jestha 15, at around 3:30 PM by a police team dispatched from Mahottari.

With the necessary assistance from the District Police Office Rautahat, he was taken into custody from Hospital Chowk, Ward No. 5, Gaur Municipality, Rautahat, the police stated.

According to Panch Lal Gole, Police Spokesperson and Information Officer of Mahottari, a 6-day remand has been extended from the Mahottari District Court for further investigation into the arrested Adhikari, and other necessary investigation into the incident is underway.
