11 Arrested in Kathmandu Drug Bust

Kathmandu.  Eleven people have been arrested with the narcotic drug brown heroin in a week-long criminal search operation by the police in Kathmandu. Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Durgaraj Regmi of the Narcotics Control Bureau, Koteshwor, Kathmandu, informed that 11 people were arrested during the search operation conducted in various parts of Kathmandu from Jestha 12 to 17. The Bureau had deployed a team based on information that they were involved and active in the drug trade in various parts of the district. Superintendent of Police Regmi informed that 101 grams of narcotics were recovered from them and further investigation is underway. According to the details made public by the Bureau today, the arrested include 32-year-old Deepakumari Bisht, a resident of Ghodaghodi, Kailali; 26-year-old Amarkumar Sah of Ekadara-4, Mahottari; 36-year-old Sunil Lama of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-17, Chitwan; 35-year-old Sangita Baskota of Chulachuli Rural Municipality-4, Ilam; 37-year-old Prashant Rana Magar of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26; and 33-year-old Pemba Lama of Shivapuri Rural Municipality-2, Nuwakot, Regmi informed. According to him, 38-year-old Jeevankumar Lama of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-7, Chitwan; 29-year-old Saroj Gurung of Kawasoti Municipality-2, Nawalparasi (East); 26-year-old Akash Singh, a resident of Darbhanga district, Fharma Panchayat, Kachhua-2, India; 20-year-old Jiya Rai of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-17, Sunsari; and 20-year-old Swastika Tamang, a resident of Thaha Municipality-9, Makwanpur, have also been arrested. Regmi mentioned that among them, Sunil Lama and Sangita Baskota were on remand in Sundhara Central Jail in a drug case and had escaped during the protests on Bhadra 23 and 24.
