Woman Found Dead in Ratuwa River; Family Claims Body

Kathmandu. The family has claimed the body of Roma alias Rama Tiwari, who was found dead on the banks of the Ratuwa River in Damak Municipality-10, Jhapa. Her body was found in the local Ratuwa River on Jestha 16.

SP Vasundhara Khadka of Jhapa informed Ratopati that the family took the body after a post-mortem at B.P. Koirala Health Sciences Institute and performed the cremation.

Rama, the 20-year-old daughter of Narayan Tiwari, a resident of Basant Tole, Damak Municipality-8, had gone missing on the 13th. As the body had started to decompose, the police could not confirm external injuries. Investigating officers say further investigation will proceed after the post-mortem report.

A police officer said, 'We are waiting for the post-mortem report, and the cause of death and other details will be revealed once the report arrives.'

Before the post-mortem report arrives, the investigating officer of the Area Police Office, Damak, is investigating the technical aspects of the incident. The distance between the deceased's house and the place where the body was found is about 8 kilometers. Police suspect that the body was dumped in the river after being murdered elsewhere. However, officers say that no conclusive details have emerged.

Rama had studied up to 8th grade. The body was found packed in a sack and dumped. SP Khadka informed that the incident is being investigated from various angles.
