Congress Gives PM Balen Shah 24-Hour Ultimatum on Border Encroachment

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress has given Prime Minister Balen Shah a 24-hour ultimatum to make public the fact that Nepal has encroached upon India's land. In the National Assembly meeting on Monday, Congress demanded that the Nepali government provide information within 24 hours about which places in India Nepal has encroached upon. 

As soon as the meeting began, MP Ranjit Karna, taking emergency time on behalf of the party, gave such an ultimatum to the Prime Minister. 'Yesterday, the Prime Minister, standing at the rostrum of the House of Representatives, said that Nepal has encroached upon some of India's land,' said MP Karna. 'I want to urge the honorable Prime Minister – please provide information within 24 hours about which places in India the Nepali government has encroached upon.'

Congress has stated that if the facts are not made public, an apology must be sought from the public. 'If you cannot provide the facts, Prime Minister, you must publicly apologize to the public.'

On Sunday, in the meeting of the House of Representatives, Prime Minister Balen had said, 'You might find one thing surprising, I also came to know only after becoming Prime Minister recently – not only has India encroached upon Nepal's land, but Nepal has also encroached upon India's land in many places.'

Similarly, MP Karna has also demanded the formation of an investigation committee on Prime Minister Shah's statement regarding border disputes.
