Government to Develop Highways as Tourist Hubs, Connect Religious Sites

Pokhara. The government has announced the improvement and upgrading of various highways, connecting them with religious and cultural routes to develop them as tourist hubs.

Presenting the budget for the upcoming fiscal year on Friday, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle stated that the Shaligram Path will be developed by connecting Triveni Dham, Devghat, Ruru Kshetra, Kagbeni, Muktinath, and Damodar Kund.

According to him, a religious-cultural route from Lumbini to Muktinath will be constructed, integrating meditation, spiritual practice, yoga, and Himalayan cultural experiences.

He stated that trade destinations will be expanded by connecting the Mid-Hills Highway with the Korala trade route. Similarly, it has been announced to prioritize an environment-friendly transportation system in the Pokhara valley.

A plan has been put forward to start e-mobility services in Pokhara by replacing public buses with electric buses.
