Government Prioritizes Large Hydropower Projects in Gandaki Province

Pokhara. The government has prioritized the construction of large hydropower projects, keeping Gandaki Province at the center. Through the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84, the government has put forward a plan to make the Gandaki region an energy hub.

Reservoir-based projects have been given top priority for energy security. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle informed that the much-awaited 1200 MW Budhi Gandaki reservoir project will be moved forward with an empowered authority model.

Similarly, it has been announced to accelerate the construction of projects like Tanahu reservoir, Upper Modi, and Lower Modi.

The government has announced to move forward with the tender process for dozens of projects, including the 828 MW Uttar Ganga, along with financial management.
