Government Invites 15 AI Experts to Return to Nepal, Establishes First AI Center

Kathmandu. The government has decided to urge 15 internationally renowned Nepali experts in the field of AI (Artificial Intelligence) to return to Nepal in the upcoming fiscal year. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle made this announcement in the joint session on Friday.

'In the upcoming fiscal year, we will invite at least 15 Nepali experts who are gaining international recognition in the field of AI to return to Nepal and contribute by creating a prestigious fellowship. We will give high priority to fields like mathematics, which will play a significant role in the age of AI,' said Minister Wagle.

Similarly, he stated that special initiatives will be started to confidently bring Nepal into the age of AI. Furthermore, Wagle announced the establishment of the country's first sovereign AI compute center in Syuchatar, Kathmandu.

He said, 'We will purchase thousands of AI processing units and provide subsidized compute capacity to AI entrepreneurs and startups. I have proposed to transform clean hydropower energy into AI compute. I believe that by developing artificial intelligence using Nepal's immense energy power, we can create skilled employment, digital exports, and products based on AI.'
