Activist Raksha Bam Criticizes Government Over Human Rights Commission Report

Kathmandu. Activist Raksha Bam has strongly criticized the government regarding the recently published report on the Genji movement by the National Human Rights Commission.

She expressed serious objection, stating that the government is trying to target democrats under the guise of the report. 

Expressing her views on social media on Wednesday evening, activist Bam warned the government to be honest in the investigation process. Questioning the government's intentions, she said, "Government, if your intention is to distinguish between justice and injustice, then start the investigation. Otherwise, stop criminalizing the movement by including names in the commission's report without statements and preliminary inquiries to settle your political scores." 

She clarified that it is unacceptable to compare the youth who spontaneously took to the streets against national malfeasance with those involved in violent activities. 

Activist Bam accused the government of political maneuvering by including the names of respected personalities such as former Prime Minister Sushila Karki and former Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal in the report. She further wrote on Facebook, "Do not crush individuals who have made historic contributions to the nation, constitution, and democracy by risking their lives in times of crisis, amidst your political maneuvering." 

On Wednesday, the Human Rights Commission published a report regarding the Genji movement. Some individuals whose names are included in the report have taken it as political revenge against them.
