Banana Cultivation Damaged by Storm in Jhapa's Barhadashi Rural Municipality

Jhapa. Banana cultivation has suffered significant damage due to a severe storm and rainfall in Barhadashi Rural Municipality of Jhapa. The storm has damaged banana crops, particularly those cultivated commercially in areas like Battisbigha in Ward No. 7 of Barhadashi Rural Municipality. According to locals, banana plants spread across approximately 60 bighas of land have been uprooted and destroyed by the storm. The preliminary estimate of economic loss from this natural disaster is around 30 million rupees. Farmers in this region are worried as the banana cultivation was ready to be sent to the market. Meanwhile, a delegation including the Chief District Officer of Jhapa and representatives from the rural municipality has conducted an on-site inspection of the affected area to gather information about the extent of the damage. The inspection team is reportedly collecting details of the damage.
