One Arrested in Siraha for Assaulting Dalit Woman

Siraha. Police have arrested one person on charges of assaulting a Dalit woman in Siraha.

Police arrested 55-year-old Pavnitranarayan Yadav of Naraha Rural Municipality-3 from New Choharwa on Saturday evening.

Yadav is accused of assaulting 60-year-old Phoolkumari Mandal. Police said that Mandal was assaulted on the afternoon of Baisakh 27 because her buffalo had gone into Yadav's field.

Victim Mandal had filed a complaint at the District Police Office for indecent behavior, stating that she had been subjected to injustice. Based on that complaint, the team of Inaruwa Police Office took him into custody after obtaining an arrest warrant from the District Administration Office, Siraha.

District Police Office Siraha's Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh Bahadur Pal informed that the arrested Yadav is currently in custody and further investigation is underway.
