Weather Forecast: Rain, Thunderstorms, and Heatwaves Expected in Various Regions

Kathmandu. Currently, Nepal is under the influence of westerly winds, local winds, and a low-pressure area near the eastern parts of Nepal, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division. Due to this, the weather is generally cloudy across the country.  

This afternoon, Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces will generally experience cloudy weather. Madhesh Province and the hilly and mountainous regions of the remaining provinces will have partial cloudiness, while the remaining Terai regions will be mostly clear.    

There is a possibility of moderate rain with thunderstorms in some places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, in the Terai regions of Madhesh Province and Bagmati, Gandaki provinces, and in one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces. Hot days are expected in the hilly regions of Sudurpashchim and Lumbini provinces, and heatwaves are expected in the Terai regions. There is a possibility of dust storms in some places in the Terai regions of Madhesh and Koshi provinces.

Tonight, Koshi Province and the remaining mountainous regions will generally be cloudy. There is a possibility of moderate rain with thunderstorms in a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Lumbini and Karnali provinces.  

The Division has also urged caution as heatwaves (Lu) are expected in Kanchanpur, Kailali, Doti, Bardiya, Banke, and Dang.
