Assistant Police Inspector's Rs 1.13 Million Loot Plan Uncovered

Surkhet. Khadka Budha is working as an Assistant Inspector in the municipal police of Athbiskot Municipality in Rukum Paschim. His house is in Philinge of Ward No. 1 of the same municipality. There must have been some problem at home. He planned to send money to his wife. 

There are no banks everywhere in the village like in the city. He remembered a 26-year-old car driver from his own village, Mukesh BK. Last Tuesday, around 7 PM, he handed over a bag with Rs 1.135 million to Mukesh, saying - Please take this money home and give it to my wife.

He had sent the amount with Mukesh with full trust, considering him a driver from his own area. The double-cab Bolero jeep, BA 13 CHA 2957, driven by Mukesh, proceeded towards Philinge via the inner road section in Rokaja of Ward No. 1 of Athbiskot Municipality.

At around 7:30 PM, while going from Radi towards Khet, the vehicle was suddenly hijacked, and two mobile phones and the money sent by the municipal police assistant were looted by an unknown group of 4-5 people. The driver Mukesh himself informed the police about this by calling.

'A group of 4-5 unidentified youths suddenly blocked our vehicle and beat me up,' he told the police over the phone, 'They took the two mobile phones we had and the bag of money and fled.'

The police became suspicious. They took the driver to the District Police Office for questioning. The police were surprised when the investigation revealed that the driver Mukesh himself was the 'mastermind' of the robbery.

Hari Prasad Pun, Information Officer and Police Inspector at the District Police Office, Rukum Paschim, said, 'Mukesh had planned the robbery after reaching a place called Jharmare.'

The car stopped at a place called Jharmare under the pretext of having a snack. At that time, Mukesh called some of his friends and informed them that he was carrying someone's money in the car.

Police Inspector Pun stated that they planned to rob the Assistant Municipal Police Inspector's money based on that phone call.

According to him, as per the prior plan, when the vehicle reached the Titemire forest in Ward No. 2 of Athbiskot Municipality, the road was blocked.

Driver Mukesh stopped the car and went to clear the blocked road. Suddenly, 4 people wearing masks came out of the jungle. They entered the stopped vehicle. And took the bag of money and fled towards the jungle.

Driver Mukesh had informed the police by phone that his friends had assaulted him, taken the two mobile phones he had, and the bag kept near the driver's seat inside the car, and fled.

Police Inspector Pun said that the looted Rs 1.13 million was recovered from the jungle near the scene, where driver Mukesh had asked it to be kept.

'The mystery of the incident was solved after a few days of investigation,' he said, 'The other individuals involved in the incident are absconding. Efforts are underway to find them.' He added that driver Mukesh has been arrested and further investigation is ongoing.
