Bhojpur Ward Provides Free Electricity Connections to Indigent Dalit Families

Bhojpur. The ward has launched a free electricity connection program targeting impoverished families of the Dalit community in Khoksik, Ramprasadrai Rural Municipality-8 of the district. The program has been initiated with the objective of bringing families who have been living in darkness for years into the light and improving their standard of living.

Ward Chairman Bachkumar Rai informed that the ward has so far provided free electricity connections to eight impoverished Dalit families. He stated that families identified as being deprived of electricity service due to financial constraints have been prioritized for assistance. "We have provided free electricity connections to the homes of impoverished families in the ward," said Ward Chairman Rai. "It is our small effort to bring light to families who have had to live in darkness due to financial constraints."

He mentioned that after the electricity service reached their homes, the daily lives of the local residents have become easier, and it has had a positive impact on children's studies, household chores, and security. Ward Chairman Rai stated that the ward has allocated a budget of Rs 200,000 for the necessary assistance. The ward has announced that it will continue such public welfare programs for the impoverished and targeted groups in the coming days.

Local residents have also expressed happiness over the ward's initiative. Local resident Sudarshan Gahatraj said that with the availability of electricity service, the darkness in the evenings has been dispelled, and the use of modern technology has become easier. He stated that the electricity connection at home with the ward's assistance has helped in daily tasks.

"I could not afford to get electricity connected at home due to financial constraints," he said. "Because of that, I had to spend nights in the dark. I am happy to be able to use electricity with the ward's help."

Another local, Man Bahadur Bishwakarma, said that after getting electricity connected at home, children are able to study and live in light. He stated that the ward's work has brought electricity to the settlements of impoverished families. The ward office has stated that the electricity expansion work in the ward is about 98 percent complete. The ward plans to declare the ward as 'Ujyalo Wada' (Bright Ward) by connecting the remaining citizens' homes.
