Province Government Addresses Lamkichuha Hospital Dispute

Kanchanpur. The Sudurpaschim Province Government, Ministry of Social Development has expressed serious concern over the dispute seen in the operation of Lamkichuha Provincial Hospital in Kailali.

Issuing a statement today, the Ministry has expressed sorrow over the inappropriate behavior towards the representatives participating in the Ministry's team dispatched to conduct an on-site inspection and understand the situation regarding the operation and management of Lamkichuha Provincial Hospital.

Urging not to be influenced by the news coming about the hospital's operation and management, the Ministry has stated its commitment to manage the financial and physical aspects as well as the human resources of Lamkichuha Provincial Hospital in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations as per the decision of the Provincial Government.

Requesting everyone to create an environment where health services are not affected in a sensitive area like a hospital, and that the problem can be resolved through cooperation and dialogue, not conflict, the Ministry has also mentioned in the statement that employees including the Medical Superintendent have been deployed for the operation of the hospital and it is committed to providing services to the citizens by starting services within a few days.

A dispute has been seen between the Provincial Government and the Municipality for the past few months in the process of upgrading the fifteen-bed Lamkichuha Nagar Hospital to a fifty-bed Provincial Hospital.

The Mayor of the said Municipality, Sushila Shahi, has been claiming that the Provincial Government has interfered in the autonomy at the local level. The Provincial Government has allocated a budget of Rs 4 crore for the said hospital in the current year.
