Auditor General Presents 63rd Annual Report to President

Kathmandu. Auditor General Toyam Raya has presented the 63rd annual report for the fiscal year 2081/082 to President Ramchandra Paudel. On Friday, during a program organized at Shital Niwas, the Presidential Palace, Raya submitted the report in accordance with Article 294 of the Constitution of Nepal. He informed that the report was prepared by auditing the mobilization of public resources and means based on regularity, economy, efficiency, effectiveness, and justification. In the fiscal year 2081/082, audits of a total of 5,526 entities worth NPR 94 kharba 84 arba 50 crore were completed. Among these, audits of 3,050 federal ministries and entities worth NPR 29 kharba 17 arba 95 crore, 1,124 provincial offices worth NPR 3 kharba 20 arba 30 crore, and 721 local level bodies worth NPR 11 kharba 9 arba 52 crore were conducted. Furthermore, audits of 577 committees and other organizations worth NPR 4 kharba 47 arba 77 crore and 44 corporate bodies worth NPR 46 kharba 88 arba 96 crore were completed. This year's audit has resulted in a total outstanding amount (beruju) of NPR 88 arba 9 crore 11 lakh. Of this, NPR 53 arba 48 crore 77 lakh is from federal government offices, NPR 5 arba 22 crore 87 lakh from provinces, NPR 19 arba 4 crore 77 lakh from local levels, and NPR 10 arba 32 crore 70 lakh from committees and other organizations. With this, Nepal's updated outstanding amount has reached NPR 7 kharba 55 arba 17 crore, which is a 2.99 percent increase compared to last year. The updated outstanding amount includes NPR 3 kharba 78 arba 54 crore from federal offices and NPR 2 kharba 20 arba 47 crore from local levels. Auditor General Raya stated that as a result of the audit, a total of NPR 14 arba 63 crore 27 lakh was recovered and deposited into the revenue account this year. This year, outstanding amounts worth NPR 63 arba 12 crore 95 lakh were also reconciled. Mentioning that similar outstanding amounts are repeated due to a lack of improvement in the issues highlighted in the report, he expressed the expectation of effective implementation from the parliament and local levels. The office also completed operational audits on 15 subjects and an environmental special audit on one subject this year.
