National Assembly Members Raise Concerns on Road Safety, Squatter Management, and Citizen Facilities

Kathmandu. In the zero hour of today's National Assembly meeting, MPs drew the government's attention to issues related to reducing road accidents, squatter management, the rights of persons with disabilities, and citizen facilities.

MP Krishna Bahadur Rokaya expressed sorrow over the road accidents in Rukum and Arghakhanchi in the month of Baisakh, stating that weak road safety in hilly areas, the tendency to carry more passengers than capacity, and the lack of effective monitoring are the main problems. He emphasized that the government should take necessary steps in time to reduce such accidents.

MP Padam Bahadur Pariyar demanded that the government effectively implement the services, facilities, and rights guaranteed by law to persons with disabilities.

MPs Pooja Chaudhary, Bishnukumari Sapkota, and Shrikrishna Prasad Adhikari stated that the problem of landless squatters and unorganized residents should be resolved, ensuring organized housing and basic necessities. They urged for a long-term plan to improve the living standards of squatters.

Similarly, MP Renu Chand pointed out the need to open the south gate for easier pedestrian movement for MPs and the general public within the Singha Durbar complex.

MP Savitri Malla commented that the policy and program presented by the government are based on the old style. Likewise, MPs Bishnu Bahadur Bishwakarma and Rukmini Koirala also expressed their views on contemporary issues.
